By being on Larry King, Rapper T.I showed the world what is really going on in the hood and the troubles that his people have to face. The hardships that lead to making the wrong decisions in life. He shows that because of the circumstances and conditions of life in the hood young men will result in using the only way they know to solve their problems.
It will take icons like rapper T.I to really show the world what is actually going on and that the decisions that he made are the same, daily decisions, made by those living under these conditions. There is a problem if violence is the only solution seen to solve problems that are fueled by miss communication and being desperate to preserve your own life; because at the end of the day you are responsible for those who need you to survive and those who look up to you to lead a successful life.
What would you do if you were in T.I’s situation?
For me, I have the need to preserve my life. I have two little boys that will be devastated if I allow death to take me. I have to open that door for their future through my success. They will always be black and life will always be presented as a challenge for them. It is my responsibility to make it less disappointing and painful. That is enough to make me think twice. If I can get away and leave it alone, I will. violence is not the only option. There are many other ways to solve our problems because there are many people affected by our decisions and solutions.
If we understand that God has a purpose for everyone of us and that there is a reason behind what we gain or lose; we will understand that nothing happens in vain. Everything happens for a reason, one person’s death can be the solution to a generation’s problem.
It toke the death of one friend to get him to sit in front of Larry King to tell and show the world what it’s like in the hood and projects. How young adults have to make life and death decisions on the daily basis.
